Frogs and Toads (77)Frogs and Toads constitute much the largest and best-known of the three groups of amphibians. As adults, they have no tail – unlike other amphibians, their tail is disappeared during metamorphosis from the larval to the adult stage.

There is no clear distinction between frogs and toads: the term ‘toad’ is often used to refer only to members of the genus ‘Bufo’, but is also used more widely to describe any slow-moving, terrestrial species with a squat body and rough, warty skin. More >
